Yes you can! If you are over the age of 58, you must submit a Treadmill Test that was done within the last 12 months. This must be done within a week of registering for the trek. You should also be able to jog 5 kilometres in 45 minutes.
The Hampta Pass trek is not open every day of the year. The trek is usually open between May and October, when the weather is generally more favorable and the snow has melted. During this time, the temperatures are moderate and the skies are generally clear, making it an ideal time for trekking. In May and June, the weather is mild and pleasant, with temperatures ranging from 10-20°C. July and August are the peak monsoon months, and the trek may be affected by rain and landslides. September and October are the post-monsoon months, and the weather is generally dry and pleasant, with clear skies and moderate temperatures. During the whole trek, there is no electricity. Before and after the trek, you will only be able to charge your phone or camera batteries in Manali. So, be smart about how you use your electronics. Before you leave your hotel, make sure your batteries are fully charged and use your electronics as little as possible. Another thing to keep in mind is that batteries die faster in cold weather. It helps to have extra batteries or a power bank.
Hampta Pass trekking is seasonless. Mid-June through September are still best for enjoying the hike. The daytime temperature will average 13 to 18 degrees Celsius, dropping to 0 degrees Celsius at night. October temperatures drop further. Snow makes Hampta Pass trekkers love June. Thus, many adventurers recommend mid-June for an exciting climb to Hampta Pass for its scenery and variety of plants and animals. To get to the Hampta pass, you'd first have to get to the trek's base camp. From Manali, you can drive or take a taxi to Jobra, which is where the Hampta Pass Trek starts. It's about 18 kilometres away, so it will take about 2 hours to get there. After that, you can start your two-day trek to the Hampta Pass. To get to the pristine valleys, you will walk and hike for a total of 35 KM.
