The Valley of Flowers trek is somewhere between easy and moderate in terms of how hard it is. On the Valley of Flowers trek, there are some steep climbs and drops. It's not a very hard hike, but you do need to be in good shape for it.
People say that the best time to enjoy the Valley of Flowers is between the middle of June and the end of September. Just after the monsoon rains, this is when the flowers start to bloom, making this place even more like its name.
The way to the Valley of Flowers starts in Haridwar. From there, you can drive to Govindghat in 10 hours. Pass through Devprayag and stop at Joshimath. The next day, you'll drive for another hour from Joshimath to Govind Ghat. The trek starts at Govind Ghat. From there, you have to walk about 14 km to Ghangaria and another 3.7 km to the Valley of Flowers, which is the final destination.
I will say that the answer is “it depends”. We saw many seniors trekking even better than us. It does take a toll on the legs, so depending on fitness it can be taken. Otherwise, mules and porters are around to make the job easier.
In 2002, UNESCO named Valley of Flowers National Park a World Heritage Site. More than 600 kinds of flowers live there. It is one of the most beautiful treks our country has to offer, and it is close to the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve. Also, the Valley of Flowers Trek takes you to Hemkund Gurudwara Sahib, which is the world's highest Gurudwara at an altitude of 15,200 feet.
